Cranbrook Past & Present Teachers’ Legacy Fund ​

The Fund
"Supporting student success and wellness in Cranbrook’s public schools, as recommended by the Cranbrook Retired Teachers’ Association and the Cranbrook District Teachers’ Association; this fund recognizes, in perpetuity, the dedication and lasting positive impact of teachers in Cranbrook."
 
By establishing this fund, it has provided another option for in-memoriam charitable donations, when an active or retired teacher passes away.  You can also remember, with a donation, a relative or friend who in their own way supported the education of children. It also provides an option for in-honour charitable donations to celebrate happy occasions in the teaching community, including birthdays, anniversaries, career milestones, and retirements.
 
Every dollar contributed to the permanent endowment fund will help grow the interest and therefore the annual grant, every year, forever.

We invite everyone in the teaching community to consider making tax-receiptable charitable donations to the Cranbrook Past and Present Teachers' Legacy Fund via one of the means below:
  • E-transfer: Email to [email protected] (Please include the donor’s full name and contact information in the notes)
  • Cheque: Made out to “CFKR“, Mail to P.O. Box 242, Cranbrook, BC, V1C 4H8 or deliver in-person to our physical office at the Ground Floor Co-Working Space, 131 7th Ave. S., Cranbrook, BC
  • Cash:  Please deliver in-person to our physical office at the Ground Floor Co-Working Space, 131 7th Ave. S., Cranbrook, BC
 
We ask donors to include a note indicating that their donation is for the Cranbrook Past and Present Teachers Legacy Fund. If the donation is in-memory or in-honour of a specific teacher, we ask donors to include that information as well.

If you wish to have the Past and Present Teachers' Legacy Fund"  added to an Obituary of a  loved one please contact Lynnette Wray for assistance with the correct wording.

REMEMBER :
We welcome donations of any size. Every dollar will help to build the Cranbrook Past and Present Teachers' Legacy Fund and as a result support the students of Cranbrook’s Public schools.

The Fund's History
You may know the fund was started in June of 2018 with $50.00, and grew to $10000 in one year thank to some very dedicated members in our education community.

On June 30, 2019 the fund was permanently endowed and on July 1 it began gaining interest.
 
The Market  Value of this Endowment as of December 31, 2024: $29,008.39.

​We, the CRTA and CDTA were then granted $787.14 in the spring of 2025 . It was decided by the CRTA President and CDTA President that the money would be spent on class sets of books for the Resource Center to lend out to all classes.
 
If you are considering donating in memory of a colleague, friend or relative,  please keep in mind that a donation to the "Past and Present Teachers' Legacy Fund"  will always support the needs of Cranbrook Public School Children.
